This project is cited in the Residential Flat Design Code for its response to a request to design a development alongside a main road facing due west. Rather than orient the living spaces towards the road, as is usual, we turned the building back to front. The building’s stairs and double-glazed bedrooms point towards the main street, while the living spaces are quietly oriented to the east with views of the park and the centre of the site.
We also incorporated a roof garden, which was uncommon in units at the time
